The flu is inconvenient, inconsiderate and to be quite frank, a downright pain. It always seems to arrive at the absolute worst time and each time it does, we are begging for it to pass quickly. 

So how do you make the flu go away as quickly as possible?

Getting rid of the flu quickly can be done, but you need to put away your work, and your to do list for at least two to three days. If you don't, you may very well end up with a prolonged fortnight flu. 

When you first feel the cold/flu coming on, the pain in your throat, you start feeling cold even though its warm out and you can't stop wiping your nose, it is time to start your remedies. First of all, make sure you have garlic, apple cider vinegar, honey and xx silver at home. Add garlic to your sandwiches, your soup - whatever you want to eat. Add it, and make sure you add a lot of it. Garlic is a natural antibiotic and it can repel the germs in your body as well as build up your immune system. 

Get an inhaler and a nose spray with salt to clear your airways, and your sinuses. It can also relieve a stingy cough.

It is important to keep your body well-hydrated as any fever will have you sweating bullets. To the water you drink, add a bit of apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar will help reduce the swelling of the glands, and help drive the bacteria out of your system.

Before going to bed at night, drink a cup of cinnamon, honey and cayenne pepper tea. Also, swallow a small spoon of raw honey before brushing your teeth.

Apart from these things, you need to sleep and sweat as much as you can. Wrap wet cloths around your wrists and place one on top of your forehead when you go to sleep. Dress warmly and have a lot of blankets on top of you. Sweating the fever out is an excellent way of ridding yourself off it. 

In general, to get rid of the flu or a regular cold, sleeping and eating it away is the way to go. As opposed to the stomach flu which is starved away. 

Make sure to eat some soup, fermented food, protein rich ice cream - whatever you want, as long as you do get nutrients in your system. If you feel like drinking only, a cup of soup or a nutritious smoothie is easy to fix. 

Even if you are warm, dress warmly. Do not allow yourself to get cold. Keep taking natural antibiotics and immune system raisers, sleep as much as you can, stay hydrated, eat well and you'll see that this flu will be gone in no time.

If your nose is running, make use of your nose spray or use a salt inhaler for your nose. If you have a nasty cough, take some homemade cough drops or cough medicine regularly, rub some tiger balm on your chest, neck and upper back, and raise your pillow up some. An easy cough medicine you can make yourself is two parts apple cider vinegar and one part honey. Mix and take a spoonful regularly throughout the day.

If it is not a regular flu, but a stomach flu, keep your tummy warm, drink tea and eat nothing but toast, rice or biscuits and not until at least a day has passed without any vomiting or diarrhoea.

To keep it simple, a stomach flu should be starved away while a regular flu should be slept and eaten away.
